The original tapes were discovered at the home of Sascha Paeth, the German musician and producer who co-created the Virgo project. For 25 years, the content remained stored, forgotten among his personal archives. The accidental discovery of this footage brought precious memories of a defining musical era back to light and reignited the desire to honor Andre Matos by sharing this material with the world.
Sascha Paeth comments on the music video:
“First of all, I really didn’t expect a video clip to be made with the footage I handed over in Brazil a few weeks ago [Sascha handed the tapes to Anderson Bellini during Bangers Open Air]. I was very surprised when I received the video for that wonderful song from the Virgo album, written by Andre. And of course, it touched me in a special, sentimental way. It’s about memory, and of course, about Andre and everything else, but also about those incredible times we shared, and our big plans that, in a way, never materialized — and now, never will.
Yes, I also shared the video with the other remaining Virgo members. We created a little WhatsApp group, and it was special. It was wonderful to hear from them and see their reactions — everyone was very happy to see it after so long, but also sad because of Andre’s passing. So it’s nice to be in touch again. It’s not that I hadn’t seen anyone in a long time, but we hadn’t all been in contact for this specific reason, of course.
And yes, it’s a great memory of Andre. It makes me happy and sad at the same time. And I truly hope people enjoy it. Oh, and Anderson did an amazing job on the video. Thank you so much. All the best.”
The restoration and digitization work was led by Anderson Bellini, the director behind the documentary Andre Matos – Maestro do Rock. With dedication and sensitivity, Bellini transformed the original footage into an emotional music video that remains true to Andre Matos’ artistic essence. The video captures the energy and creative spirit of the Virgo project, revealing intimate behind-the-scenes and spontaneous moments of the musicians.
The release marks a milestone for Andre Matos fans. The song “No Need to Have an Answer”, one of the most iconic tracks from the 2001 Virgo album, now has a visual representation that complements its lyrical and musical intensity — an opportunity to revisit a classic with a fresh perspective.
In addition to being a tribute to Andre Matos, the video also celebrates the friendship and musical partnership between him and Sascha Paeth. Their chemistry is evident in the footage, which features both studio recordings and relaxed moments of musical creation. The video becomes a historical and emotional document, honoring the artistic legacy of both.
The video is now available on the YouTube channel for the Andre Matos – Maestro do Rock documentary and has received praise from fans and critics for its editing quality and emotional impact. The careful editing played a key role in respecting Andre Matos’ memory and honoring the original material. This release underscores the importance of preserving historical music archives with proper care and respect.

Virgo is a collaborative music project that brought together two major music figures: Brazilian vocalist and songwriter Andre Matos and German producer and multi-instrumentalist Sascha Paeth. The idea arose in the late 1990s during a period of intense creativity between the two musicians, who had previously worked together. Their goal was to create something free of labels, with complete artistic freedom, resulting in an album that blends progressive rock, hard rock, and pop with classical music nuances.
The project is noted for its distinctive sound, diverging from metal conventions by embracing sophisticated arrangements, captivating melodies, and introspective lyrics. Virgo was conceived as a conceptual and emotionally charged work, exploring themes such as identity, doubt, spirituality, and purpose. The album was produced by Sascha Paeth, known for his work with bands like Rhapsody, Kamelot, and Angra, while Andre Matos contributed powerful vocals and deep compositions.
Officially released in 2001, the Virgo album quickly became a cult favorite among rock and melodic metal fans, particularly those following Andre Matos’ career. Although it didn’t receive significant promotional support at the time, the quality and boldness of the music earned the album a loyal following that still regards it as a hidden gem in both artists’ discographies. Tracks like “No Need to Have an Answer”, “Baby Doll”, and “River” stand out for their balance of emotion and musical sophistication.
The album also drew attention for its international production. Recorded in Germany, Virgo featured guest musicians and was developed with technical and artistic care. Its blend of classical elements with a modern edge created a timeless sound that remains relevant more than two decades after its release. The record reflects Andre Matos’ musical versatility and sensitivity, alongside Sascha Paeth’s technical expertise as a producer.
Virgo remains a unique project, resisting easy categorization and offering a one-of-a-kind musical experience. With only one album released, it has become a symbol of creative freedom and artistic partnership. Though it was never intended to continue as a band, Virgo‘s legacy lives on among fans as a pure expression of its creators’ musical souls.
