Mentored by Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren, Hank moves from classical piano in Tainan to the Los Angeles metal underground, unveiling his melodic deathcore vision ahead of debut album “Death Knows My Name” in early 2026.
Mentored by Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren, Taiwanese multi instrumentalist Chia-Hung “Hank” Lin is spotlighting his unique musical journey with the new Avidious singles “Out Of Time” and “Rivers Of Greed”, two tracks that showcase his role as founder, main composer and driving creative force behind the band. “Avidious is the place where everything I am as a musician comes together – the kid who started on classical piano in Taiwan, the drummer obsessed with groove, and the guitarist who loves melody and atmosphere,” Hank explains. “This band is my way of turning all those chapters into one honest, heavy statement.” Combining emotional weight, technical proficiency and modern heaviness, the songs anticipate the full length album “Death Knows My Name”, scheduled for early 2026. “Death Knows My Name” is produced, mixed and mastered by Adair Daufembach, with Hank recording all instruments and Isaac Jones recording all vocals, plus guest solos by Gabriel Franzese and Houston Davis on a couple of tracks.

Hank began his path in music at the age of five studying classical piano, before expanding to drums at sixteen and guitar at seventeen. That early foundation in harmony and rhythm now fuels the versatility of his writing, where intricate arrangements meet direct, hard hitting impact. “Even though I am known mainly as a drummer, I still think like a songwriter first,” he says. “When I write for Avidious I am always hearing the whole picture – the harmony, the rhythm, the story behind the lyrics. The blast beats, the grooves, the riffs, they are all there to serve the emotion, not the other way around.”
Relocating to Los Angeles to pursue his degree at Musicians Institute, Hank refined his craft under the mentorship of Dirk Verbeuren, known worldwide for his work with Megadeth and ex Soilwork. “Moving from Taiwan to Los Angeles was like starting life on hard mode, but it forced me to grow faster as a person and as a musician,” Hank reflects. “Studying under Dirk Verbeuren showed me that discipline and creativity have to walk together. That mindset is all over Avidious – every riff, every drum pattern has to mean something.” As a drummer he is in constant demand, performing with Avidious, Thrown Into Exile, Dead Marble, Against The Sun and Joshua Gomez. Most recently, he was invited to tour with melodic metal band Thrown Into Exile supporting major acts such as Fear Factory and Cavalera – Chaos A.D., led by Max and Iggor Cavalera, founders of Sepultura.
In Avidious, Hank channels that experience into a focused artistic vision. The band blends the intensity of deathcore with the melody of melodic death metal and the groove of metalcore, weaving together crushing riffs, aggressive drum work and memorable hooks. While Hank handles composition and musical direction, vocalist Isaac Jones delivers the lyrics and vocal arrangements, exploring themes that move from personal struggle and inner conflict to wider social tensions that affect everyday life.
“Out Of Time” dives into the cycle of regret that follows the mistakes everyone makes. Built on sharp, modern riffing and dynamic shifts, the song captures the restless feeling of replaying past decisions and wondering “what if”. “Out Of Time is about that vicious cycle where you replay every mistake in your head and forget to live with what is happening right now,” Hank says. “I wanted the song to feel like you are suffocating in regret at the beginning, and then slowly breaking free, accepting that you cannot rewrite the past but you can still change who you are today.” As the track evolves, it pushes toward release and acceptance, turning that tension into a message about breaking the loop, letting go of what cannot be changed and focusing on what can still be rebuilt in the present.
“Rivers Of Greed” turns the lens outward and channels a more urgent, confrontational energy. Musically, the song combines tight grooves, dissonant harmonies and towering climaxes to underline its lyrical criticism of corrupt systems and leaders who allow suffering to deepen while a privileged minority rises unchecked. “With Rivers Of Greed we turned all that frustration with corrupt systems into something you can scream along to,” Hank states. “It is not just anger for the sake of it – it is a call for people to stand together, to stop feeling powerless and realize that unity is the only way to push back against the ones who are drowning us in their greed.” The result is both a cathartic outcry and a call for unity, encouraging listeners to stand together against forces that oppress and divide.
The wider concept behind the upcoming album “Death Knows My Name” builds on those emotional and social themes. “‘Death Knows My Name’ is not about being dark just to look heavy,” Hank explains. “It is about confronting everything we try to avoid – fear, loss, injustice – and turning it into fuel. If these songs help someone feel less alone in their own battles, then the record did its job.” With “Out Of Time” and “Rivers Of Greed”, Hank Lin and Avidious mark the beginning of a new chapter that ties his classical roots, academic training and real world touring experience into a cohesive artistic statement.
